Aaron Ramsey's father has questioned whether Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has deceived him after he was dropped from the starting goalkeeper to the bench.

Ramsdale was Arsenal's first-choice goalkeeper. He was born in 1998, and his passing and ball-handling abilities earned him a lot of attention. At Arsenal, he has been the backup since the 2021-22 season. Last season, he kept 14 clean sheets, helping the Gunners to a second-place finish.

This season, however, things have been different. Arsenal brought in David Luiz on loan in the summer transfer window. The former Brentford goalkeeper joined the Gunners on a free transfer.

With the arrival of a goalkeeper who was already a regular in the Premier League (PL), competition was expected to be fierce. Mikel Arteta has said that there is no "number one" in any position, and that he brought Lahaya in with the intention of giving Ramsdale competition. He also insisted that goalkeepers, like field players, should be able to be substituted during games.

Eventually, Ramsdale was gradually pushed out of the starting lineup. He didn't start any more league games until the fourth round against Manchester United. Ramsdale was then relegated to the bench as Raya started in his place, mainly in cup competitions.

Ramsdale's father, Nick, was concerned for his son, telling The Highbury Squad podcast on Thursday, "He's lost the smile on his face when he's got the ball at the moment. It's a very difficult situation. He doesn't know why it's happened, he doesn't know why it's happened, but he's optimistic and he's going to do everything he can to help Arsenal win the league."

"When I spoke to Arteta on the phone before he signed for Ramsdale, he said he wanted Ramsdale. But when Raya came into the transfer market, we took him. Ramsdale had signed an extension with the club before he arrived, but they didn't know he was joining until a few months later."

The competition between Raya and Ramsdale for the starting spot has been a contentious one. Raya continues to be a shaky performer, making frequent mistakes in 스포츠토토 every game. Angry Arsenal fans even chanted Ramsdale's name from the stands after he made a mistake against Chelsea in the ninth round.

However, Nick Ramsdale defended Raya, saying: "The competition is not her fault. It's fair enough. It doesn't do anyone any favors to call her names when she makes a mistake. Ramsdale is trying to help Raya as much as possible to fit in with the team."
